The Upcoming 2006 NFL Football Season

The 2005 NFL football season passed with new all time records being set, with everything from Shaun Alexander’s record breaking 28 touchdowns in one season to Nathan Vasher’s longest return of a missed field goal at an incredible 108 yards (also the longest play of any kind in NFL history) to the Seattle Seahawks amazing regular season performance and loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XL.

Super Bowl XL was the 40th Super Bowl. The game was played on February 5, 2006 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, following the regular football season of 2005. The American Football Conference (AFC) champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers, defeated the National Football Conference (NFC) champions, the Seattle Seahawks, 2110. Although the Seahawks won the turnover battle, 2-1, and outgained the Steelers by 57 yards, Pittsburgh won on the strength of three big plays converted for touchdowns. The Seahawks were plagued by controversial penalties, dropped balls, poor clock management, and a game-ending interception on a drive deep into Steelers territory. This was the Steelers fifth Super Bowl win, and with this victory the Steelers join the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers for the most Super Bowl wins by a team.

The upcoming 2006 NFL season will be the 87th season of the National Football League. This season is scheduled to begin on September 7 and the opening kickoff game will feature the Miami Dolphins playing the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 8:30 pm Eastern time (ET). The regular series of games start on Sunday, September 10, with the Indianapolis Colts playing the New York Giants in New York. Then on Monday Night, September 11, there will be a doubleheader: the Minnesota Vikings at the Washington Redskins at 7 pm ET, followed by the San Diego Chargers at the Oakland Raiders at 10:15 pm ET.

Three games are scheduled to be played on Thanksgiving Day. In addition to the traditional annual Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys home games during that day (who will host the Miami Dolphins at 12:30 pm ET and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 4:15 pm ET, respectively), the Denver Broncos will travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs at 8 pm ET.

The season will conclude on New Year’s Eve, December 31. Super Bowl XLI, the Super Bowl championship game for the 2006 season, will be held on February 4, 2007 at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Lakes, Florida, and the post-season will conclude with the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

Based on the NFL’s scheduling formula, the intraconference and interconference matchups for 2006 will be:

Intraconference
AFC East v AFC South
AFC North v AFC West
NFC East v NFC South
NFC North v NFC West

Interconference
AFC East v NFC North
AFC North v NFC South
AFC South v NFC East
AFC West v NFC West

2006 will be the first year that the NFL will use a “flexible-scheduling” system for the last seven weeks of the regular season. The system is designed so that the league has the flexibility in selecting games to air on Sunday night that will feature the current hottest, streaking teams. This system’s primary purpose is to prevent games featuring losing teams from airing during primetime late in the season, while at the same time allowing surprise, playoff-potential teams a chance to play at night. During the previous 2005 season, a December 19 Monday Night game featured the 4-9 Baltimore Ravens versus the 3-10 Green Bay Packers, while hot, streaking teams such as the Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Jacksonville Jaguars had little or no primetime games.

Because Christmas Eve (December 24) falls on a Sunday during the 2006 season, the flexible-scheduling will actually occur in seven of the last eight weeks. Instead of a Sunday night game on Christmas Eve, two games will be held on Monday, Christmas Day: The Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas at 5 pm ET, and the New York Jets at Miami at 8:30 pm ET. Therefore, the first real test of the new flexible scheduling will come with the 2007 season, with the final seven weeks scheduled to begin on November 18 of that year.

Under the flexible-scheduling system, all Sunday games in the affected weeks will have the start time of 1pm ET/10am PT, except those played in the Pacific or Mountain Time zones who will have a start time of 4 pm ET/1pm PT (or 4:15 PM ET/1:15 PM PT if it is a doubleheader weekend). On the Tuesday 12 days before the games, the league will move one game to the primetime slot, and possibly move one or more 1 pm slotted games to the 4 pm slots. During the last week of the season, the league could re-schedule games as late as six days before the contests so that all of the television networks will be able to broadcast a game that has playoff implications.

Multicultural Marketing – Taking Care of Business At Hand

Multicultural marketing mirrors the changed face of America and is getting the attention of small-business and other organizations looking for an edge in diverse ethnic markets. “Gone are the days when businesses succeed with a ‘one size fits all’ approach to marketing. It’s a ‘mass market’ no longer,” insists Rhonda Albey, a diversity consultant with Allen Associates in Los Angeles, “The multicultural markets are where the opportunities are, and successful entrepreneurs are quickly learning how to get there.”

According to the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) the predominant ethnic market segments being targeted by multicultural marketers are Hispanic (70%), African-American (59%) and Asian American (27%). In many places, these and other multicultural markets exert such demographic and economic influence that they’re inevitable targets. (source: http://www.Emarketer.com, 11-6-02).

Wherever they are, however, businesses must monitor and adapt to changes in their marketplace. The view out there can change quickly, and it’s a mistake to take any significant market segment in your area for granted. Even with all the right products and services you’ll still need the right message, in the right place, at the right time to reach the ethnic markets you want to be doing business with.

Do-it-yourself online research and homegrown multicultural marketing initiatives can help you identify and develop local ethnic market segments. But for some, outsourcing may be the way to go. For example, Multicultural Marketing Resources, Inc., (www.multiculturalmarketingresources.com), a NYC-based public relations and marketing company, is helping businesses and entrepreneurs reach multicultural markets nationwide.

Population Growth and Economic Clout Tell Powerful Stories

Overall, says Multicultural Marketing Resources’, Lisa Skriloff: “The African-American, Hispanic and Asian populations have a combined buying power of more than a trillion dollars and minority populations are fast becoming the majority population in major markets.” But shifts in thinking toward culturally based marketing–targeting ethnic segments based on their cultural framework–will expand, creating multicultural marketing opportunities in still new ethnic segments in places where they are numerically significant.

California diversity consultant, Rhonda Albey, cautions: “Appreciate the diversity within groups as well as among groups. Terms like ‘Hispanic’ and ‘Asian’ are frequently used without acknowledging the wide-variety of peoples such terms include. ‘Asian’ can refer to any one of hundreds of nationalities, language groups and cultures. Entrepreneurs need to be aware that what appeals to Chinese-Americans in California may have little appeal for Korean-Americans in New York, although they’re all Asian-Americans.”

Culture as much, if not more than age, income, occupation or sex, is the main difference between ethnic markets and the general marketplace. Differing cultural backgrounds may mean consumers will never see or hear marketing messages that are not relevant to their cultural behavior, language or media preferences. And many businesses have yet to realize that Hispanics, Asians and blacks, among other market segments–multicultural or otherwise–have buying preferences that can be a key ingredient in marketing and selling to them.

But what if you haven’t been making the most of multicultural marketing opportunities that could be all around you?

How to Work Multicultural Marketing Into Your Marketing Plans?

Assuming you have a marketing plan, an important first step in multicultural marketing is knowing your audience, followed by improving your existing market penetration (you may want to get busy developing attractive new target markets, but first understand the inherent risks and costs, and explore opportunities to grow from within). If you can’t meet your goals with existing marketing opportunities–or you want to aim even higher–you probably should be developing new market segments. That means checking your sales forecasts and expense budget, and seeking ways to increase the return on your marketing investment.

As does all market planning, multicultural marketing needs to include research to determine who is buying your products and services, and why. Any market segment’s unique make-up defines its needs, suggesting products to sell and methods to use, and if it’s right for you; solid information about the wants, needs and objectives of potential clients is essential in making sound marketing decisions. Surveys of prospects and clients and informal interviews are useful research tools for agents and advisors in areas where one or more ethnic groups predominate.

Multicultural market planning continues with customer profiles–word-pictures of the people you’re looking for summarizing what these groups mean to you, what you do for the group, and why. Example: “The person I do business with is a young black professional or executive who is married, politically conservative, and has the potential of earning $100,000 a year by age 40. This market has grown substantially from when I started in this business 10 years ago, and I’ve been able to develop a steady market presence. As a result, networking opportunities and qualified referrals are easy–but I have to keep my eye on the ball and know my stuff.”

Market positioning then allows you to focus your resources and expertise as they apply to your market segments and think through the messages you wish to communicate to create competitive advantages. Your positioning statement should be well thought out and lend itself to professional identity branding. Your “brand”–reputation, integrity, performance, credentials, distinctive competencies and other key factors–shows in everything you do and differentiates you from your competition. Establish your brand up front: in conversation, in writing and in what you make people think about.

A marketing strategy is your formal plan for entering and systematically developing multicultural market segments and achieving your goals. It coordinates your positioning statement, customer profiles and professional identity brand with tools and techniques for establishing yourself in these market segments while servicing and expanding your existing client base. Once you have a plan, you’ll need to implement, manage and sustain it. It’s also important to remain focussed on your long-term goals. And to stay motivated!

You can adopt these steps to any market segment; what’s most important is thinking strategically about how you will find, get, and keep customers. Because marketing in the U.S. is becoming more like global marketing, market planning must proceed from an understanding of cultural differences the better to evaluate the need for adjustments to strategies and tactics. Commenting on the potential growth of multicultural marketing, Lisa Skriloff predicts: “Businesses that have not invested in multicultural marketing will be forced to reevaluate or be left behind.”

More Boutique For Your Money

Individuality matters to hotels in the boutique sector. These small, chic hotels endeavour to ensure that you get the best possible experience during your stay.

Staying at a boutique hotel is about more than just staying in a quirky building or having an MP3 player in your room. A truly hip hotel looks at the complete experience a guest can have from the products in the bathroom to the availability of room service so that you really feel youve had value for money.

Many of these hotels include things in the price of your room that everyday hotels wouldnt, and give you access to services that many hotels wouldnt be able to. Its these additional features and services that make boutique hotels excellent value for money, no matter how much youre paying.

Technology boutique hotels cater for business travellers as well as discerning holiday makers and so the latest technology is a must unless your hotel is a true retreat. Therefore, expect to find WLAN and LAN systems, cable or satellite TV and music systems. In addition, some city hotels also make use of key-less entry systems and electronically controlled curtains or blinds.

Relaxation many of the hotels in this sector offer spa and other relaxation areas. Some hotels include full Turkish Baths, ideal for winding down at the end of the day, whilst others incorporate their own signature spa products into their treatments. Gyms are also incorporated into some hotels, along with pools and Jacuzzi baths, to ensure that theres no excuse for guests feeling stressed during their stay.

Food the food is a vital part of the boutique mix. Although a few boutiques concentrate on design and dont offer food other then breakfast, most have invested in stylish restaurant and casual dining areas to attract guests and locals, and then hired innovative chefs who use local produce to produce classic and contemporary dishes. With good styling, clever marketing and faultless cooking, boutique dining can put the hotel on the map and certainly encourages people to book into the hotel for short breaks, romantic weekends or full holidays.

Location not many high-street hotels can boast the types of locations occupied by boutique hotels. From old industrial buildings to 18th century townhouses; elegant beach villas to European castles, boutique hotels are usually in stunning locations, or right in the heart of the city, a stones throw from the best shopping or the most popular tourist destinations.

Signing for your card transaction is now a thing of the past

From Valentines Day (14th February) 2006 a signature is not good enough for you to purchase goods in the UK using your debit or credit card. Chip and PIN technology has been around for years, but before now it has still been an option that you may sign for your card transaction. Now, however, that luxury has been taken away. No longer will a signature be enough proof that the card you are using is yours. If you own a debit or credit card you must now know your PIN number or else you wont be able to use your card.

Card fraud is a big problem in the world nowadays, but this new technology has significantly decreased card fraud. It is estimated that 80% of retail transaction in the UK are now paid for by card. This isnt because more and more people are getting credit cards, its because more and more people are getting a debit card with their bank account and using this debit card instead of cash when shopping.

Most new bank accounts nowadays offer free debit cards when you open your bank account. Barclays bank (one of the UKs biggest banks), for instance give you a free debit card with their current account (http://www.barclays.co.uk/currentaccount-index ) and their new High Interest Savings Account (http://www.personal.barclays.co.uk/BRC1/jsp/brccontrol?task=articleFWgroup&value=2430&target=_self&site=pfs ). This card is a great benefit, as it means that you dont have to carry cash around with you, and when crossed with an account that gives you a good interest rate, you can have a very beneficial addition to your purse or wallet.

For those of you that dont already use a debit card; it is basically the same as your hole in the wall bank card, but also can be used like a credit card in stores when paying for your shopping. The good thing about the debit card is that it gives you access to your own money, without you having to get credit and get in to debt. Whenever there is no money in your account you cant use your debit card this curbs your spending and thwarts your ability to spend more than you can afford.

The problem in the past with debit cards was that if you lost it someone could easily use it in a store with your forged signature, potentially giving them access to all of your funds. Now that chip and PIN has become compulsory it means that a thief cannot use your card in a store without knowing your PIN. This makes your card a lot more secure. The only thing remaining is to remember you PIN (Personal Identification Number) and not to write it down and store it anywhere near your debit card.

Resume Format Sample

If you have ever tried to create your own resume on your word processing program, you are probably familiar with the many different formats. To choose the correct resume format sample depends on which type of position you are seeking.

If, for example, you are seeking a professional position, you should choose a resume format sample that depicts a professional quality. This means no fancy designs on the paper or creative fonts. When choosing a professional resume format sample, you are best to go with those that are labeled classic or professional. These are usually no frills types of formats but maintain an aura of seriousness and respectability. Those who are seeking employment in a firm that is conservative, such as a bank, are well advised to choose a resume format sample that depicts a classic, tasteful design.

Perhaps you are seeking employment in a creative field. In such a case, you can get a little bit more creative with your resume format sample. There are plenty of creative resume format samples in most world processing programs and if you cannot find the one that appeals to you, there are dozens of software programs that can give your even more choices. You want to be certain, however, that your creative resume is easy to read and not too fussy. Too much color and design can be a bit overwhelming for a prospective employer and even if you are applying for a position in a creative field, you should maintain some sort of professionalism. There is plenty of time to show them how creative you can be once you have secured the position.

Those seeking a position in a law field can choose from many different resume format samples that depict law symbols on the page. These are not too outlandish and add a bit of novelty to the resume. With the advent of the internet, the plain paper, typed resume has quickly become a thing of the past. The trick to finding the correct resume format samples is to seek one that will suit both your personality as well as be appropriate for the job which you are seeking.

Some software programs that offer resume format samples also give you everything you need to create your own resume. You will be prompted for the necessary items that are needed for every resume, whether it is creative or classic. All resumes should include name and contact information as well as career objective. Employment experience and education are also necessary for any resume.

If you are truly creative and are seeking a creative position, there are some programs that will allow you to create your own unique resume on your computer. You can add images or designs and special fonts. Again, you must be careful not to get too creative and make your resume become too much of burden for someone to read. While a creative director may appreciate a unique resume, a banker, on the other hand, will most likely be confused and will not be calling you in for an interview.

One nice thing about creating a resume online using resume format samples is that you can actually complete your resume within the program, adding all of the vital information that is needed, and then take a look at the different ways the resume looks with the different resume format samples. It is nice to see a variety of samples from which to choose, particularly when you are creating something as important as a resume.

Creating a resume is not as difficult as one thinks and using resume format samples is just one way to make sure that you create the perfect resume that will gain you the job of your dreams. Make certain that you do not get bogged down with the creative process and remember to include all of your job duties, tasks and accomplishments. Many people tend to underestimate their skills when creating a resume for themselves. This is not the time to be modest about your accomplishments. A resume is the first impression a prospective employer has of you. And different employers prefer different types of resumes. There may be some who are very old school and prefer a plain piece of paper on one page. Others may appreciate a bit of creativity. If you do not get a job because your resume was too flashy because you used a classic design instead a plain paper, perhaps that job is not the best match for you. If you are the type of person who prefers to add a bit of pizazz to your work, perhaps you are best working for an employer who will appreciate that quality, rather than one who will continue to hold you back.

Using a resume format sample to create your resume can be fun and give you an opportunity to truly express yourself on paper. Make sure that the resume format sample complies with the type of job which you are seeking, is not too overbearing and is easy to read and you will do well in this endeavor.

How to get your Music Professionally Recorded for Free

Generally, the first thing that springs to mind when you need to record a song, is to make enquiries with local recording studios. However, studio charges are generally based on an hourly rate that is often more than your day job pays you.

Once you’ve saved enough money for this excursion, there are then further worries. Unless you are a regular visitor to recording studios, you may not quite know what to expect. You may not be able to communicate your ideas for your sound clearly to the engineer, who really only understands technical jargon.

As the hours tick by, you will be under the stress of wondering if you’ll be able to complete your project before your money runs out. Artists under stress don’t generally perform well, but you won’t hear this because you’ll be out there performing, instead of listening to the performance.

If you have also hired musicians in for the session, you’d also better be a good personnel manager. The longer they have to sit around waiting to be told what to play and how to play in?t, the more it is going to cost you!

It is in your best interest to use a studio that is the best you can afford. But have you taken the above problems into consideration? Have you planned out your time in the studio in the fullest detail? Do you know enough about the multitrack recording process to know exactly what tracks your song needs? Are you, or your band rehearsed enough to play every track on its own, and in perfect time with all the others in the arrangement? Can your drummer play to a click track? Or do you have detailed drum parts already programmed for your songs? Have you written detailed score sheets for all the session musicians? Do you know what kind of sound they need, and what style to play in? Have you already tried out various mix ideas and sound effects at home, and know how to explain these ideas to the engineer?

If not, you will most likely end up with a recording that isn’t quite what you expected. And it will have cost you a small fortune! At best, you will get a good recording that sounds something like you thought it would. But does it sound original to you? Has it captured your unique sound, and conveyed the essence of what you are as an original artist? Does it convey the emotion of the song correctly to the listener?

There is another way to approach the recording process that will solve all the above problems, and could even get you a professional recording for FREE!

All the above jobs are part of the work that is generally done by a PRODUCER.

A producer is someone who has the experience to hear, not just the music, but the essence of what you are as an original artist.

A producer will know instinctively when you have made the perfect take, and will get you onto the next stage of the process without having to waste studio time playing back every take first.

A producer will have your whole sound in glorious 3D in their head before a single note is played.

A producer will have the technical knowledge to know how to translate every part of the process to something the engineer can understand.

A producer has a long list of business contacts who he can call upon at short notice to add whatever is necessary to make the sound you need … session musicians, arrangers, writers, synth programmers, track editors, equipment rental companies.

Sounds expensive, doesn’t it?

Not necessarily!

Although some producers will charge a flat rate for the job of perhaps several thousand pounds (or dollars!). Many work from their own studios, with their own “in-house” session musicians for a royalty plus expenses. Therefore, they become somewhat like a “record company”. They will produce a recording for any artist they see potential in, in the hope that their recording will eventually be signed to a major label and make money. Of course, in these instances, you will still have to pay the studio and session musician costs.

Sometimes they will even do the whole job for FREE, or for a minimal flat rate to cover expenses. How can they do this? Well instead of taking a royalty from your advance or sales, they take ownership of the copyright in the sound recording they make. This is fair, because, after all, they put a lot of their own money and special skills into the making of it. So what do you get in return? Of course, you get full use of the recording for your promotional needs!

Furthermore, many producers with their own studios, now also have their own record label. Wobbly Music is one such producer. Whilst you are looking for a recording or publishing deal elsewhere, or whilst promoting your record as an independent artist, your producer will have the right to sell the recording (from which you, as the artist or composer, will be paid royalties) in order to try and recoup their losses or even profit from this mutual deal.

There are now a great number of producers doing deals similar to this. It means you can have a demo made, or release your own recordings for little or no money up front, whilst still retaining the freedom to sign with whoever you wish, or remain as an independent artist. So in effect, you will have a record deal working for you to earn extra royalties in the background, whilst you concentrate on doing what you do best, which is writing and/or performing great songs!

Since this kind of arrangement may not be costing you anything, it is worthwhile trying a few different producers to see whose ideas and style of production gel best with your own view of yours.lf and your sound.

All producers have their own unique style, just as you, as an original artist, have yours. This “sound” can be heard throughout all their productions with various artists. Look for a style that seems complimentary to your own. In other words, don’t use a Hip-hop producer to make your records if you are a Country artist!

Many good producers have a wide range of musical skills, and may also be able to write lyrics, compose melodies, write arrangements, or even play various instruments, such as guitar, piano or drums. All these extra skills could be utilised to give your recordings an extra edge at minimal, or no extra cost.

Finally, now that you are off to find your own producer, here are some things to avoid…

Don’t rely on pictures of their studio, and lists of top quality recording equipment to tell you how good they are as a producer. Any piece of specialist equipment can be hired if necessary. A good producer can produce radio-ready recordings on even the most basic equipment, whereas a poor producer, will not achieve such good results on even the best and most expensive equipment.

Don’t sign with a producer who doesn’t make samples of their previous work available to you. You need to know what experience they have, and get an idea of the audio quality and styles that they can produce.

Don’t sign with a producer who comes solely from a DJ background. These producers specialise in remixes of existing records, or “beats”. Not in the creation of a new artist’s unique sound, or a recording from scratch.

Don’t sign with a producer who specialises in a genre of music that is totally different to yours … Unless you want to change your style to that new genre!

Don’t sign with a producer who has no creativity or commercial flair of their own. You don’t want a producer who is just going to record everything exactly as you already have it, just to please you. A good producer will see things that you have missed, and will add hooks and sounds to your songs that will attract new listeners, and interest from music industry professionals.

Don’t sign with a producer who is asking you to assign publishing rights to your songs. You want to be free to sign your songs to record companies or publishers who may be able to do more for you in the marketing or promotion of them. Once you assign the copyright of your songs to someone, they have exclusive rights to them for the duration of your contract, or even for perpetuity! All a producer needs from you, is your written permission to record your songs, and perhaps sell their recordings or release them on their own label. If so, make sure you get at least the statutory mechanical royalties (currently 6.5%) from these sales!

Don’t sign with a producer who only works with one set of musicians. Although many have their own preferred set of “in-house” session musicians, there will be times when your music wont be suited to the way these musicians play. Make sure that your producer has a wide range of musical contacts to draw from.

Don’t sign to a producer who promises to make your song into a hit record. Even if the producer has already produced several hits, there is no guarantee that your song will be a hit. Marketing gurus and sales teams make hit records, not artists and producers!

Finally, some producers may ask you to sign an exclusive contract for a certain time period (perhaps 1-5 years). These producers must also be “song-pluggers” or “promoters” who need to protect their interest in you whilst they are working to get you a deal with a major label, using the recordings they have produced. Before signing any exclusive deal, always have the contracts looked over by a lawyer specialising in the music business. Make sure, by examining the production company’s track record, that their promise of a major deal looks likely to happen within that time period. You don’t want to be wasting five years of your life whilst your best songs are sitting on someone else’s shelf, doing nothing!

——————————————————————–

If you are a Country music writer, you can go to a Nashville demo studio and get amazing sounding recordings using top Country music session musicians. If you are only pitching songs to that specific market, that is great, but every recording they produce sounds like the last.

If, on the other hand, you think your music has wider appeal, or you are a performing artist yourself, you will want to be noticed in the crowd across a wider marketplace. You need to accentuate the part of your sound that is unique to YOU. A good producer will be able to recognise that which is unique to you, and will make sure that your recordings take advantage of that.

Is The Hexagon Fish Tank Fish Friendly?

In this day and age fish tanks come in all shapes and sizes and you can get them made from a number of different materials. When purchasing a fish tank you need to decide on a number of factors. How do you want your aquarium to look? How big is your home? What kinds of fish do you want to keep etc. When you decide to buy a fish tank for yourself, you start with an idea of how your aquarium should look. Most people think an aquarium should be oblong while others prefer something a bit different. These unusual shaped aquariums such as the hexagon fish tank look amazing in your home but they are not designed for fish.

The Hexagon Fish Tank Actually Harms the Fish And Is Just a Decorative Piece

Unfortunately for the fish the hexagon fish tank is not kind to fish as it makes them feel disoriented as they need to swim round and round and not backwards and forwards as in an oblong tank. Humans are always trying to find things that look unusual and unique to impress our friends and neighbors and the hexagon fish tank certainly does this. It looks stunning and is a very decorative piece of furniture. People love the hexagon fish tank because it looks different to anything else. While the hexagon fish tank is not kind to the fish the shape is attractive and at the same it could be placed in many different spots in your home.

The space in a hexagon fish tank allows for swimming is so much less than a rectangular tank of similar size. The fish do not feel happy about being restricted in a hexagon fish tank because the shape does now allow them the freedom they want. The kindest thing you could do would be to buy mechanical fish and have an array of colorful plants and ornaments. This way your hexagon fish tank would still look stunning and you would not be making any fish dizzy.

One other alternative would be to have very small fish. These small fish would have more room to swim around compared to bigger fish who would just become ill. The hexagon fish tank would allow the very small fish a bit more freedom; however for big fish the hexagon fish tank will make them ill. They would be far happier in a large oblong tank.

Another factor to consider is the one of children. If you have children you will need to decide if you should have your hexagon fish tank made from glass or metal. Where children are concerned acrylic aquariums are far better as they are safer and they keep the water temperature stable for longer periods of time thus requiring less looking after. Whether or not you choose an oblong or hexagon fish tank you need to be careful as not to scratch it as acrylic marks easier than glass. If you are still undecided whether or not to have a normal or hexagon shaped fish tank I think the first question you should ask yourself is that of which fish would I like in my tank? If you do not mind a few small fish or mechanical ones then buy a hexagon fish tank. However if you feel that you want something more then I feel a standard oblong tank would be best.

The Truth about Mental llness

Many people still fear and misunderstand people who have been diagnosed with mental illness. People with mental or psychological disorders are often perceived to be potentially dangerous, or, at the very least, capable of causing physical harm to others. Psychiatric conditions take on many forms, just like physical illnesses do. In general, a person with a psychological disorder is confused and does not have a normal process of thinking or reasoning. A person with a psychological disorder does not speak, behave, and relate with orders in a normal fashion. Mental illness often result in lower capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of everyday life. Mental illnesses can affect persons of any age, gender, race, religion, or income. This illness is not a result of personal weakness, lack of character, or poor upbringing. Although symptoms of mental illnesses can sometimes be disturbing, recovery is usually possible in almost all cases.

Do I Need Aerobic Clothing?

One of the most motivating things you can do when it comes to starting a workout is to buy yourself some nice aerobic clothing. This motivational tool is quite useful for many people who want to get started on their exercise program in style.

There is more to consider than just looks when it comes to aerobic clothing so making a rash decision may lead to your tossing the outfits on your exercise machines to collect dust.

It is important to remember that your aerobic clothing is an integral part of your workout. You may not believe this at first but bear with me. Wearing an outfit that is inappropriate for the routine will make you very uncomfortable. You will be less likely to return to the gym or even your basement if the exercise routine and your aerobic clothing are uncomfortable.

We tend to avoid unpleasant situations. If you engage in an exercise routine that is demanding and your aerobic clothing is getting in the way, you will be less likely to repeat the routine. Your choice to forgo the workout is not necessarily due to the workout itself. You aerobic clothing was uncomfortable and it interfered with your enjoyment of the exercise.

Remember to keep it loose. Tight fitting aerobic clothing may limit your mobility and some can even restrict blood flow. There is no point in working out if you do not have a full range of motion available to you. You also want to stay well ventilated and you definitely want the blood flowing naturally.

We all know that black is slimming but black is a no-no during summer workouts. Choose aerobic clothing that is light in color. This reflects the sun away from you. Black absorbs the sun (and the heat). If you are too hot and sweaty you may become lightheaded and tire out way too quickly to reap the full benefits of your routine.

You are supposed to sweat but you dont want to start sweating before you have even stretched your muscles. Getting overheated is a big danger when engaging in physically demanding activities. Wearing light aerobic clothing will help you stay cool and energized during your routine.

People who live in cooler regions benefit from layering their aerobic clothing. Keep lighter materials close to the skin and put fleece and other heavier items over that. You can always peel a layer or two off if you feel overheated.

Resources For Health-Conscious Consumers

It is estimated that 52 million Americans consult the Internet for health and medical research and the number of Internet surfers keeps on growing. Many argue, however, that it is difficult to identify credible information among the many resources the Internet has to offer.

Fortunately, when looking for information on vitamins and nutraceuticals, there is a one-stop reliable solution. Information-seeking consumers can rely on the Vitamin & Nutraceutical Information Service (VNIS) at www.VNIS.org, which offers in-depth information on all 13 vitamins and a host of important nutrients including carotenoids: lycopene, lutein and zeaxanthin; omega-3 fatty acids; probiotics; soy isoflavones; green tea extract (also known as EGCG); and co-enzyme Q10.

Since 1979, the VNIS has been disseminating credible, science-based information on vitamins and nutrition to health professionals, researchers, nutrition policy makers and people of influence throughout the U.S. Now, the extensive library is also accessible online.

All the information online is cross-referenced so that it can be accessed by health topic (e.g., Bone Health, Heart Health, etc.); by life stage (e.g., Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Aging, etc.) or by the specific vitamin or nutrient name. Each section provides basic descriptive information plus downloadable educational materials, bibliographies of scientific resources, and, in some cases, consumer education brochures.

The VNIS is supported by DSM Nutritional Products, Inc.

Four Steps To Tripling Your Energy

Tired? Tired of being tired? You arent alone. There are few human qualities more highly sought than energy. It determines our ability to enjoy life, to attract mates, to finish projects, to protect our families, to shape our bodies effectively, and so much more.

While there are endless specific suggestions about herbs, exercises, meditations, supplements, rest patterns and so forth that I could mention, the most important and over-arching components are relatively simple, and available to anyone with the willingness to begin.

Basically, your energy level will be controlled by three physical and one psychological factor.

A) Fitness. There are a variety of different things that contribute to the quality called fitness, but a few of them are specific to energy level.

1) Cardio-vascular fitness. A dead minimum of twenty minutes three times a week, just to stay in the game. If you want to create a swift, powerful change, try forty minutes four times a week. Walking is sufficiently intense, if you stay in the aerobic zone which can be described as a level of exertion where you cant sing, but you can still talk!

2) Body-mass index. Unneeded weight is like a sack of wet cement strapped to your back. It eats up energy like crazy. Regardless of what anyone says or implies, there is only one basic way to lose fat: to change the ratio of calories consumed to calories burned. In general, this requires discipline on BOTH ends. Fat loss is a two-headed snake. If you diet but dont exercise, your metabolism can slow down to a crawl, denying you success. And if you exercise but dont eat sensibly, well, a pound of fat has about 3500 calories. An hour of running only burns about 350 calories. Do the math.

3) Flexibility. Often overlooked in the search for energy, flexibility is a measurement of tension in the body. A stiff body is like a car with its brakes on. Think how much gas your car would waste!! That gas is your energy, when you carry unnecessary tension. Most stretching activities are less a matter of lengthening muscles, tendons, or ligaments than learning how to communicate with your body, to learn how to breathe into tension.

4) Strength. Contrary to popular belief, strength is more in the mind than the body. It is a matter of leverage, concentration, and controlled excitation even more than it is the size of the muscles involved. On a physiological level, it is a matter of the percentage of your muscle fibers you can recruit at a given moment. Weight training, or body-weight exercises like Hindu Pushups and Hindu Squats, are great ways to increase strength, which makes physical tasks much easier and less fatiguing.

B ) Controlling food intake. A critical factor. Note that I didnt say diet. At this point, we all pretty much understand that diets dont workthat any eating plan intended to have long term benefits must represent a change in lifestyle. A few pointers:

1) 3:2:1 ratio of fresh fruits and vegetables to complex carbohydrates to lean proteins. Note that this ratio works for people who are ACTIVEthey need the carbs. If you are trying to lose fat, or are relatively inactive, try reversing the ratio of protein and carbs.

2) Drink more water. The classic recommendation of eight glasses a day is debated, but the truth is that a lot of hunger and fatigue is actually dehydration in disguise. Note: this means water, not beer, soda, or even milk, all of which contain various nutrients or chemicals which actually require water to process through the body. In other words, they use up as much water as they give you.

3) Eat six small meals a day. This helps keep your bloodsugar levels even, which will keep your energy from crashing in the afternoon.

4) Eat today for how you want to FEEL tomorrow. Not for emotional reasons, or just for taste.

C) Rest. As a culture, we arent getting enough sleep. The human body seems to need 7-9 hours of sleep a night, and if youre getting less or more than this, you may be having stress reactions, and compromising your health as a result.

1)Find out what your ideal sleep pattern is, and stick to it.

2)Try to get to sleep before midnight. Folk wisdom says that every hour of sleep before midnight is worth two hours after.

3)Take naps during the day. A quick power nap for 10-20 minutes can renew your energy like magic.

4)Make your bedroom a place of rest, healing and recreation. Keep your stress in another room of the house. Your sleeping place should be a womb of comfort and pleasure, specifically designed to lull you into the depths of dreamland.

D) Focus. In some ways, the most important tool for increasing energy. You need to know EXACTLY what you will do with the energy when you have it. This means written goals, clearly delineated. It means being task-oriented, believing that if you can do A,B, and C, there will be pleasure and satisfaction on the other end. I know people who are AFRAID to have more energy, because they think their kids, mates, or boss will just exploit them further. You have to have PERMISSION to be energetic, alive, and sensually involved with life.

But if you will give yourself this permission, if on a daily basis you will move your body, eat responsibly, rest intelligently and write out your goals and steps to achieving them, you will begin to take control of your body/minds energy-generation apparatus, and youll be shocked at the energy that will flood your life. It is your birthright. Own it!

Amusement Parks: The Perfect Vacation!

Are you looking to take a vacation but are unsure of what places to consider or how to begin? If so, regardless of your age or the size of your family, consider including amusement parks in your next trip.

Amusement parks can be the ideal vacation for a wide variety of people. Whether you are looking for a trip packed with scheduled events and entertainment or if you would prefer a wide open trip with no agenda at all, visiting amusement parks can meet your hopes for a great trip. A great thing about amusement parks is that they are full of options no matter what kind of trip you hope to have. Contrary to popular belief you will find much more than just huge rides and cotton candy at amusement parks, although you will certainly find those things too.

One of the best things about amusement parks is the wide range of people that they attract and entertain. Families with young children, families with older teens, young couples without children or older adults can all enjoy amusement parks equally. Not many other vacation options can keep people of all ages and interests occupied and happy for hours on end. Your children may love visiting the petting zoo or getting their face painted. Amusement parks offer these things while also having tons of fun adult rides and shows as well. Your whole family can choose an activity they would like to do and then you can fill entire days enjoying the fun of being together doing things you each love.

There are amusement parks in many states around the country. Do a little research to find amusement parks near you or in areas that you would like to consider visiting. Some amusement parks will have hotels onsite or very nearby that can sometimes be purchased as part of a package with tickets to the amusement park. Make sure that the amusement parks offer everything that you and your family will want to enjoy. Usually, the larger the amusement park, the more opportunities and activities will be offered. Often you can purchase family packages that offer tickets to amusement parks for a specific number of days at discounted rates. You will have to do a little planning ahead to know how many days of vacation you want to spend.

So get excited about your next vacation! Make plans to visit amusement parks and experience days of nothing but fun for the whole family.

Is America Ready For A Tiny BMW?

I wrote previously about Mercedes foray into the small car market. As strange as that may seem to many Americans, both Mercedes and BMW have long produced smaller and less costly models for the European market. Now, it appears that BMW is considering doing the same: introducing to the North American market a truly compact car, smaller than any BMW that has ever graced our highways and back streets. Is this a good move for the German automaker? Or, will it water down a prestigious brand name?

Part of any automakers marketing strategy is to convince you, the consumer, what their vehicle line is all about. Dodge would like you to believe that they sell sporty cars and rugged trucks; Scion touts their youth oriented vehicles; and both BMW and Mercedes, like Cadillac, sell luxury vehicles. Millions of dollars of advertising is spent per year to reinforce brand image which is supported by consumer surveys of that particular sentiment.

Speaking about Cadillac, in the early 1980s GMs luxury brand briefly marketed a compact car the Cimarron that ultimately bombed, in part, because it strayed far from its big luxury car base. Sure, the car was little more than a rebadged and re-tweaked Chevrolet Cavalier, but it contradicted the entire Cadillac mystique. Even a slightly larger and much later model, the Catera, also failed as the car was perceived for what it really was: a remade Opel.

So, now the dilemma: will consumers accept the 1 Series BMWs planned entry or will it cause confusion and diminish the BMW name? As a backgrounder, the current 1 Series is expected to be overhauled in 2006. Right now the car is offered as a sport hatchback, but the hatchback isnt likely to be imported due to Americas aversion to that particular body style. Thus a sedan version is being considered by BMW for production according to published reports.

I visited BMWs U.K. site to examine the current Series 1 model. With the typical BMW fascia in place the Series 1 resembles a slightly stretched Volkswagen Golf mated to a compact BMW. The 1 comes equipped with either a 1.6L or 2.0L I4 gasoline engine, a gas 24V 3.0L V6, or a 2.0L four cylinder diesel that achieves a whopping 50 mpg fuel economy. Prices for the 1 start at just under $25,000

Equipment on the 1 is typical BMW with ABS and all the full luxury appointments. Clearly, the current 1 is not a stripped model as it features many of the amenities found on larger BMWs.

In my opinion BMW must tread carefully in bringing a car of this size to the American market. Forget the hatchback and just go with the sedan with either a wagon and or a coupe being a possibility. Unlike the basic Mercedes models, the 1 may just be able to pull it off for BMW and allow the German automaker to sell a tiny BMW successfully in the U.S. Alternatively, BMW just may want to consider launching a separate brand, to retain the BMW mystique in the American market.

Digestion

Digestion is a major problem in 21st century lifestyle. Everybody is too busy to sit down and eat properly, or healthily and there is a massive increase in colon cancer cases. The question we must ask of ourselves is why does this happen? Followed by what can I do about it?

Why Indigestion?

Let’s start with why does this happen because this has far wider implications than mere indigestion. Indigestion is nothing more than a symptom that your digestive juices are not performing the function that they are designed to perform. In a nutshell that means that your body is not disposing of excess or waste products. This causes indigestion, heart burn etc. It also assists in putting on weight and constipation. So we have three problems now: Indigestion, obesity and bowel dysfunction. We can also add to that the potential for heart problems caused by obesity. It doesn’t come more serious does it?

What to do about it

The second question we should ask is: “What can I do about it?” There is a simple, natural, remedy that I will come to later but for now let’s look at what most people do about indigestion. They buy hundreds of millions of dollars worth of ‘off the shelf’ cures. Without mentioning names of products because every supermarket and drug store have shelves full of various cures for indigestion and heartburn that I’m sure you know as many as I do. People who buy and use these products will know that, at best, they only provide temporary relief and cost quite a lot of cash for what they are. I’ve seen products retailing at $8 or $9 that contain a few cents of ingredients. Little wonder they only want to give you temporary relief; this goose lays 24 carat golden eggs for the makers and sellers. Now let’s look at something that goes to the soul of the problem.

Overcoming indigestion

To overcome indigestion, and the more serious offshoots mentioned above, you must regain the balance of your body function by stimulating your natural digestive juices to work in the manner that they should. The common link between indigestion, obesity and colon disorders is the inability of your body to break down the food that you eat and process it in the correct manner. The answer is Apple Cider Vinegar. Take one Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water with each meal. The acidity of the vinegar stimulates the natural digestive juices into performing their natural function and your body will start showing the affects within a couple of days. Often on the first day of using it.

Medicinal powers of Vinegar

The medicinal powers of vinegar have been catalogued for many years. During World War 1 common vinegar was used for cleaning infection from wounds before dressing, it has been used as antiseptic for surgery in emergencies. The benefits of this product are widely publicised but just as widely ignored.

Personal experience

On a personal note I suffered from indigestion and a hiatus hernia a little over a year ago. The hiatus hernia was controlled by strict diet – mainly avoiding spicy foods. This was murder to keep up with because I love food and especially spicy food. A friend suggested I use a Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water when I eat and I was prepared to try it. The result: I have just about forgotten what indigestion is and can eat any spicy foods that I wish and never suffer from the hiatus hernia.

There is one more thing that you can do to help your body function in the manner it was designed to work and that is to increase your daily exercise. I don’t mean sign up at a gym or employ a personal trainer. All you have to do is walk for at least 20 minutes each day. You can start by taking 4 walks of 5 minutes and build up to 20 minutes. It doesn’t have to be power walking, just remember that the body needs movement to function and only you can give it that. Before too long you will want to walk for 40 minutes each day as you start reclaiming your body. – Just don’t get into heavy exercise unless you have discussed what you propose to do with you doctor and she/he has approved it.

Summary

The way of life that came to the fore in the late 20th century and persists today is not a natural way for your body to function. Just be aware of that and make a few minor changes. There is little point in having a great income and lifestyle to die young is there?

The NFL Draft-What Players will make a Difference

April 29-30, 2006 live from New York Citys Radio City Music Hall, its one of the biggest events of the year! Is it the Rockettes? No. Maybe its that dreamed of Beatles reunion? No. Then it must be the latest country music awards show! Not at all.

Its the one draft that wont give you a chill. If anything, this draft sparks the beginning of the 2006-07 NFL season, and yet, theres not one play run, one signal called, or one zebra in sight. It is the only non-sporting sports event of its kind-the NFL Draft.

Its a time when fans that can never get enough football are glued to their televisions and computers, when college football players from around the country say an extra prayer or two, and when professional football coaches and general managers make decisions that can make or break their upcoming season.

Everyone is looking for that “impact” player-a guy who can make a big difference on a team in their initial season. Of the 32 NFL clubs, 14 had losing records and ten were 5-11 or worse last season. These are the teams that need to desperately improve and due to their poor records, they get to pick first. That means organizations like Pittsburgh, Seattle, and Denver-those who had winning seasons and went deep into the playoffs-will be at the end of the line this year.

For a college player to be a top-ten pick, they need to have a few things going for them. First, they must be one of the best at their position. They also need to be a good fit with the team thats picking. Finally, theres that “impact” factor, which can trump whether the player is a good fit with a particular team. Running back Reggie Bush (USC), quarterback Matt Leinart (USC), and defensive end Mario Williams (North Carolina State) are all top players but only one can go first. On April 29th, it looks like Reggie Bush will be the player chosen number one in the draft.

The Houston Texans have the first pick and its projected that they are going to choose a high profile money player. They can actually use a defensive force like Mario Williams, but chances are they will go with Bush. Why? Running backs like Bush are rare. Along with winning the 2005 Heisman Trophy, Bush shattered school records and was an All-American. Hes a hard worker with great acceleration and the ability to elude defenders by quickly changing direction.

However, running backs probably get punished the most in an NFL season, which means they have a very limited shelf life. Great running backs tend to show signs of wear and tear by their tenth year, which often manifests itself in reduced output and reoccurring injuries. The one concern about Bush is his durability. He has had shoulder surgery, and hes small by NFL standards. By the way, although its almost certain that Bush will go first, it is not a given that Houston will pick first.

The Texans may trade down with another team, like the New York Jets, giving them the first pick. The Jets certainly need offense. However, if New York does trade for the top spot, they may actually not choose Bush. The Jets quarterback situation is tenuous and that makes USCs Matt Leinart an attractive pick.

Leinart stands 6 5″ and is a smart player with excellent decision-making abilities. These are great attributes for a NFL QB. In the pocket, he is accurate, consistent, and possesses fine field vision. The one knock is his mobility, which is not an uncommon problem for quarterbacks.

If the Texans trade with another team and move down that will also complicate the draft, especially for New Orleans. The Saints really need a quarterback and would definitely take Lineart-a player that most experts believe could start in his first pro season. The choices for the Saints would then become quarterback Vince Young (Texas) or a defensive player such as Williams, defense tackle Haloti Ngata (Oregon), safety Michael Huff (Texas) or safety Jimmy Williams (Virginia Tech).

Vince Young led his Texas Longhorns to the National Championship against USC this year. Hes an amazing athlete with great arm strength, fine mobility, and great running ability. However he needs to mature more as a passer and would probably suffer as a first-year starter. Presently, theres concern about his accuracy, which can be improved over time. Perhaps the biggest downside on Young is one of his upsides-his running ability. In the NFL, unlike the college ranks, quarterbacks who run, like Atlantas Michael Vic, can become injury ridden and mistake prone.

Mario Williams, who is projected to go third to the Tennessee Titans, is big, athletic, and quick. At 6 7″ and 290 pounds hes got NFL size, power, and speed. The Titans are in need of a speedy defensive player. Williams can be effective immediately.

Green Bay really needs to upgrade its defensive and offensive line, which means its well positioned in the draft. It will have numerous choices, including offensive standouts DBrickashaw Ferguson (Virginia) and A.J. Hawk (Ohio State) and, on defense, safeties Michael Huff (Texas) and Jimmy Williams (Virginia Tech) and defensive tackle Ngata.

Ferguson has been a constant standout at Virginia and should be the first offensive tackle taken in the draft. Hes big, quick, and hard working and would be an immediate force for the Jets, Packers or 49ers. A.J. Hawk should be a solid professional offensive linebacker; although his college career was spent on “D,” many believe he lacks the size to play that side of the ball in the pros. Hawk is explosive, tough, and hard working with excellent football instincts.

Safety Michael Huff could be a perfect match at corner back for the San Francisco 49ers. He possesses fine instincts, coverage awareness, and closing speed. He reads quarterbacks well, which may be the tradeoff teams take in lieu of his small size. San Francisco needs someone like Huff, who can start immediately and will learn quickly.

University of Maryland tight end Vernon Davis has strength, quickness off the line, and great hands and concentration-all of which should serve him well in the pros. Hes small for a NFL tight end and may be more adept at wide receiver. Any team would be better with the addition of Davis but the Arizona Cardinals could really use a player like this on offense.

College standout Jimmy Williams looks destined to be a solid NFL safety. Hes aggressive, tough, and fast but must improve in terms of coverage awareness. Oakland, Buffalo, and San Francisco can all benefit from his skills and drive.

Haloti Ngata is a great defensive force with size, speed, and strength. He has the potential to be a premiere defensive lineman, constantly controlling the line of scrimmage. Hes also shown a lot of potential towards improving his technique, which gives him a big upside. He may go to Detroit, but the Houston Texans team can really use this player, while the Lions are looking for a quarterback. If these two teams trade draft slots or draft picks, it could benefit both.

The top ten prospects-Reggie Bush (RB), Matt Leinart (QB), Mario Williams (DE), DBrickashaw Ferguson (OT), A.J. Hawk (OLB), Michael Huff (S), Vernon Davis (TE), Jimmy Williams (S), Haloti Ngata (DT) and Vince Young (QB)-will be in the forefront of this years draft. Chances are three or four of these players will go on to have long NFL careers. Right now, these ten men show all the promise in the world. Soon, theyll be asked to work harder, think more, and develop greater skill levels than they ever have before.

Those who survive and flourish will be the ones who can adapt the best and work the hardest, relying on more than just the talent that got them there. After all, New Englands Tom Brady was sixth in the NFL draft. No, not the sixth pick-he went in the sixth round as the 199th draft pick. How do you spell “adaptability” and “hard work?”

Can You Really Add an Inch to Your Biceps in 3 Minutes?

Copyright 2006 Paul J. O’Brien

Yes, Yes you can. In this article I am going to teach you the secrets to building the big guns – Bulging Biceps. What is more I shall also simultaneously increase your lifts by and average of 100 % (all though in some cases ad much as 250%) on the major lift for this muscle group.

So how am I going to support my fantastic claims? I’m going to give you a incredibly intense three minute arm routine unlike ANYTHING you’ve ever experienced. You will feel every muscle fibre contract and fatigue. You will felt he rush of power and strength as you break every physical barrier you thought you had. You are going to experience Isometrics!

Isometrics is not a cutting edge new discovery for gaining mass. It’s not a supplement. It is in fact one of the oldest methods of strength training devised, forgotten until now. It is the contraction of a muscle without the shortening of a joint – In other words, tensing the muscle as hard as possible without moving. I’m going to show you how to apply it to three major lifts, 1 for the biceps, triceps and forearms.

You’ll need a smith machine to perform these exercises safely.

Bulging Biceps

Warm up your biceps with a few light dumbbell or barbell curls. Nothing too taxing just enough to get them nice and warm, the blood flowing. You’re going to need it.

1. Stand in the Smyth Machine.
2. Place an empty Bar at about shoulder height (you may have to vary this to ensure the maximum effect).
3. Bring your hands up to the bar as though you have just reached the top of a barbell curl. Set it an inch below.
4. Keep you back straight, your abs tense.
5. Your biceps should be close to fully flexed at this stage. Relax, we haven’t put any weight on the bar yet.
6. Load the bar with a LOT of weight. Don’t underestimate your self. To give an example, a friend who routinely curls 6okg on a barbell recently did this for the first time, he lifted 260kg his first attempt.
7. The object of the exercise is to raise the bar a little more than an inch. That’s it. Just an inch and then hold it there for 7 seconds.
8. If you can hold it longer than 7 add more weight. Anything less, take some weight off.
9. All you are doing to raise the bar is contract your biceps as hard as you can. At no time should your elbows be directly beneath the bar.
10. Really tense your biceps and forearms for all they are worth.
11. You will feel the blood rush, the muscles scream and an intensity few will ever experience.
12. Then rest. Take a week off training the biceps.
13. Buy some new shirts.

Have fun showing them off ;-)

The New Realities Of Used-Car Shopping – Good Car Deals Possible With Internet Marketing

A flood of fresh vehicles and the explosion of Internet marketing greatly improve your odds of getting a goodness deal. When Olga Humblias slips behind the wheel of her silver B.W 740iL, she knows a couple of secrets that no one seeing her sleek driving machine would suspect. One: She bought it secondhand–it’s a ‘97 that started its life with a two-year, 26,000-mile lease. Two: Her monthly payment for the $70,000-plus beauty is just $240.

Not at all surprising is that once she hits the roads around her home in Upper Saddle River, N.J., the 4.4-liter, 32-valve V-8 performs so wellspring that Humblias might as fountainhead be driving in the venerable Le Mans auto race. “The cable car rides and handles so swell you rich person to constantly watch the speedometer,” says the real estate agent, smiling. She besides has to keep a close eye on her husband, Charles, himself a BMW enthusiast, who jumps at any chance to drive her auto.

The couple’s satisfaction with the automobile–the first exploited they wealthy person ever purchased–symbolizes how the remainder of the millennium is ushering in the best of times for ill-used-machine buyers. One reason is the phenomenal growth of leasing. Nearly 33% of the 1999 vehicles rolling out of showrooms will be leased, not purchased. When leases remnant, relatively new to(p), good-cared-for models come back to the market, often with their prices showing more wear and tear than their tires.

To earn the manufacturer’s stamp of approval–and the extensive guarantee that goes with it–these cars must pass a thorough inspection and undergo any necessary reconditioning. The dealer does the work which, according to Moody of Swope Honda, adds approximately $500 to the price of the –$370 for mechanical repairs and the rest for cosmetics. “These cars are in mint condition,” he says. Approved vehicles carry a limited warrant for up to 6 days or 72,000 miles, the cost of which is too passed on to the buyer. Honda dealers, for example, earnings $329 for the company’s certified imprimatur for cars.Luxury brands, including BMW and Lexus, routinely offer 24-hour roadside assistance for their approved put-upon cars. What if the victimized you’re drawn to hasn’t been so blessed. Should you spring for an wide warrantee.

It can make sense if the ’s original has expired or is close to to. “The client needs the full benefit of a overhaul contract the is five or VI old age old or has 70,000 to 85,000 miles on it,” says George Weber, marketing manager for elongated-inspection and repair plans for Ford’s -serving division. A beneficial should cover major components such as the engine, transmission and axles, as easily as the brakes (not the pads), air conditioning, heater, blower motors, compressors, evaporator, suspension and steering components.

The electronic system–critically important to nowadays’s technologically advanced cars–should likewise be covered, including emission controls. Expect to remuneration between $700 and $1,200 for coverage that extends the warrant), to 75,000 or 100,000 miles, but remember that prices are negotiable. Many plans now allow deductibles of up to just about $200. Answers: Nissan: A; Infiniti: A; Chevrolet: B; Honda: B.

Spin Bowling Success Tips

The spin bowler is a key element in the bowling line up of any cricket team, the skill of Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan has highlighted the potential and the shear power and influence a high class spin bowler can have in the game of cricket. The spin bowler can be used to slow the game, add pressure and most importantly attack batsmen. The spin bowler moves the ball off the pitch turning it sideways, as the spinning ball grips the pitch and turns and can also cause it to bounce variably.

A good spin bowler needs to be able to bowl a consistent line and length, is able to turn the ball, which requires lots of practice and dedication to succeed. If you are a spin bowler you should try and experiment with varying degrees of flight, speed, and angle of approach in order to deceive the batsmen.

There are two recognised types of spin bowlers, which are, finger spinners who are classed as the orthodox technique and use their index finger (first finger) to spin the ball and the wrist spinners who use the wrist more than fingers to spin ball.

Target areas:

Off spin: The off spinner aims to spin the ball from a right handed batsmens off side towards the leg side. Try to bowl just outside of the off stump so that the ball turns and hits the stumps, also try to entice the batsmen forward.on to the front foot by bowling a full length.

Leg spin: The leg spinner aims to bowl the ball so that it spins from a right handed batsmens leg side to the off side. Again try to pitch the ball up to the batsman to get them coming forward. Pitch the ball inline with the wickets so that the ball turns to hit the top of the off stump.

The grip:

Leg spin: Use the first two fingers to grip the ball horizontally across the seam, your third finger should be bent and running along the seam. Your thumb should rest lightly on seam and the spin is generated primarily by the third finger.

Off spin: Again grip the ball with your first two fingers horizontally across the seam and try to spread as wide as possible apart the joints of index and middle finger. The ball then rests lightly on third finger and thumb, the spin is and produced and passed on mainly through the index finger.

The delivery:

The off spin delivery, should start with an angled and short delivery stride. You should then pivot on ball of the front foot keeping your bowling arm high. Cock your wrist inwards and drive your back leg through to help rotate the body. Release the ball by turning your wrist sharply from left to right and by pulling down on seam with the index finger to generate spin. The back of hand should face the off side or upwards at finish of the delivery, dont forget to follow through properly. Keep your head as upright as possible throughout the delivery and your eyes fixed on the target at all times.

The leg spin delivery is very similar to the off spin except with a few subtle and important variations. Your approach should be somewhat longer and have a slightly angled approach towards the target.

As you bowl you should raise your lead arm towards the target and bowl with a braced front leg (your weight should be through this leg). Pivot on the ball of the lead foot and bring your bowling arm up high with your wrist cocked outwards. Drive your back leg through and release the ball. Generate the spin by rotating your wrist from right to left and by most importantly using the third finger to impart the most spin. Finish with your palm facing leg side.

Follow through by rotating shoulders through the line of the wickets and driving your back leg through the action so that your hips rotate over your front foot. Keep your hips and shoulders inline and head as upright as possible throughout the delivery and your eyes fixed on the target at all times.

The Googly and the Doosra: Deceptive deliveries

The googly is bowled by a leg spinner and is a ball that appears to look like a leg spinner when its bowled but then moves unexpectedly in the opposite direction after it pitches. Its bowled out of the back of the hand and requires the shoulder to be dropped a little at the point of release. A great example of a bowler who has mastered the googly is Shane Warne.

The doosra is bowled by an off spinner and is a ball that initially seems to look like an off spinner when its bowled but then moves unexpectedly in the opposite direction after it pitches. The doosra has been pioneered by the Sri Lanka great Muttiah Muralitharan and is very difficult to bowl, Muralitharan reputedly practiced the delivery for 2-3 years in the nets and practice before using it in first class cricketI cant bowl it so Im not going to go into it!

The power and rotation on the ball are generated through a strong action and is enhanced by flicking the wrist and straightening the fingers at the point of release. Always try and spin the ball as much as you can, your consistency and accuracy will come with practice and hard work. Remember to bowl your spinners with oomph and purpose, dont just throw it up and hope for the best.

Tip- Examine the pitch before bowling and try to identify areas of rough, cracks and other features on the wicket to aim at which may cause increased spin, variable bounce or erratic ball behaviour when pitched on and aim to bowl the ball into these areas provided they dont cause you to bowl bad deliveries (e.g. short and wide).

Company Aims to Ease ‘Charitable Fatigue’

With so many recent natural disasters happening around the world, people are being asked for charitable donations like never before. Many who wish to help might find the donation process frustrating and confusing, but want to do more.

“‘Charitable fatigue’ is a buzz-phrase used to hide a real problem small and mid-sized charities are facing in the aftermath of a full year of natural disasters,” says Robert Grosshandler of iGive.com.

To make it easier for consumers to give to charitable causes, iGive.com, founded in 1997, turned online shopping into a vehicle for charitable giving. Consumers can help their favorite causes by shopping at online shop. The site features more than 650 well-known retailers, such as The Gap, Barnes & Noble, Home Depot and eBay.

“At iGive we have a solution that puts money shoppers are spending anyway into the coffers of their favorite charity, not one chosen by the store,” Grosshandler said. “It’s a ‘win-win’ and more people are discovering this ‘painless’ way to give every day.”

Shoppers support any cause they wish by registering at the site, where they can track their donations. Shoppers have raised close to $2 million through iGive.com for nonprofit organizations and worthy causes, including animal shelters, school marching bands, medical research foundations, women’s shelters and missing children’s advocacy groups.

The site has also proven to be useful for celebrity causes. Backstreet Boys member Brian Littrell helped raise funds for “The Brian Littrell Healthy Heart Club for Kids” at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Ky., and raised more than $14,000 through iGive.com.

Other causes using iGive.com include: For the Love of Animals; San Pedro High School Lady Boosters; Scotia Glenville Traveling Children’s Museum; Shady Grove United Methodist Church; Sonoma State University Athletics; and thousands of others.

“Give as you shop for everyday items such as office supplies, clothing, accessories, appliances … at prices that are the same if not better than you’ll find anywhere else and up to 27 percent of every purchase will go to your favorite charity,” Grosshandler said.

Computer Backup

It’s happened to most of us; we’ve lost a document or a folder because there was no computer backup. Whether you lost a few lines you were typing because of power failure or your entire system crashed, computer backup is the only way to prevent such mishaps from destroying your files. Computer backup can be basic or sophisticated, costly or simply the price of your average floppy disk. Depending on your needs and the importance of your files, you will need a computer backup system that reflects your budget and your lifestyle.

Many computer users prefer to keep it simple and back up their data with a floppy disk or by copying and pasting documents. This is the most basic form of computer backup, but it is not satisfactory for everyone. Floppy disks often wear out, and you can have files stored on floppy disks for years that might be not perform if they are stored on old disks. On the other hand, if you use your files quite frequently, your floppy disk could wear out, which creates another problem for your floppy disk storage. If you simply store your document elsewhere on your computer, it might not survive a complete computer crash, although minor annoyances should not interfere with your files. Because of problems with viruses, computer crashes are becoming a more frequent occurrence for many PC users, and therefore, computer backup software is the best option for many consumers.

There are many files that are worth the time and investment involved in obtaining good computer backup software. Examples of such files are:

Bank records
Personal documents
Digital photos
Address books
Software downloads
Special projects

The best computer backup software not only creates a copy of your documents automatically, but it uses encryption algorithms to protect your information from unauthorized access and spyware. Your filename will also be encrypted to protect against intrusions. Most computer backup software is quite user friendly, and new files can be added instantly at the click of a mouse.

In addition to many great features, most computer backup software will enable you to:

Create new backup programs
Select files and folders for backup
Define compression settings
Choose target of backup
Store backup info in various locations

The best computer backup programs are not rigid, but allow the user the flexibility to choose where and how their files will be stored. You can choose to have everything copied automatically, or specify which files you wish to have a backup. If you have a large volume of material to store, you can select compression settings, which will minimize the size of your documents and will enable you to store more information. You can also choose where you want your backup information to be stored, and you can place the data in various locations automatically, for instance, in your hard drive, USB stick, Network folder, CD, DVD and Remote FTP Server. You can also create a simultaneous backup communication between a remote FTP server and local storage devices.

Your computer backup software should provide easy user interface, the option to store your data in multiple versions and the capability to restore your files to their original folders. Most programs have a very easy to use help menu, and many have service lines to help customers who wish to communicate with an assistant. You can also obtain special features for your computer backup software, such as a disaster recovery CD or DVD, which will get your computer back up and running after a crash. You can have peer to peer backups for extra protection and virus scanning capabilities that will safeguard your valuable files against tampering.

Computer backup software varies in prices, and it is worthwhile to invest in the best program you can afford, especially if your business depends on valuable files. Don’t let an unexpected computer crash destroy your valuable data, but invest in computer backup software today.
